At the crossroads between conceptual attitudes and performative drive, the 1970s saw the emergence of discursive artistic practices whose ramifications extend as far as today's performative lectures. Against the backdrop of significant international experiences - think of Vito Acconci, John Cage and Joseph Beuys, among others - the book considers for the first time conferences, discussions, conversations, presentations and lectures as an art form on the Italian scene, looking in particular at the work of Vincenzo Agnetti, Giuseppe Chiari, Luca Patella and Fabio Mauri. Compared to the absolute and regressive body of the most famous and striking body art, the discursive practices put a speaking and dialogical subject at the centre, resonating with the widespread interest in verbal language, understood as a forge of individual self-awareness and a model of social relations. From historical figures, following continuities and variations around the intrinsic performativity of speaking and the multiple political values of taking the floor in public, we arrive at recent proposals - by figures such as Chiara Fumai, Cesare Pietroiusti, Sissi and Cesare Viel, among others - for whom orality is a tool for critiquing cognitive capitalism and dominant cultural arrangements, and becomes a place where minority subjectivities emerge.

Abstract
From historical figures, following continuities and variations around the intrinsic performativity of speaking and the multiple political values of taking the floor in public, we arrive at recent proposals - by figures such as Chiara Fumai, Cesare Pietroiusti, Sissi and Cesare Viel, among others - for whom orality is a tool for critiquing cognitive capitalism and dominant cultural arrangements, and becomes a place where minority subjectivities emerge.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
